“Therefore, Arjuna, you should always think of Me in the form of Krsna and at the same time carry out your prescribed duty of fighting. With your activities dedicated to Me and your mind and intelligence fixed on Me, you will attain Me without doubt.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 8.7)

We must work to earn money and pay our bills, and maintain our homes and family members. At the same time, engage in some service to God.

Lord Krishna never says that one should give up his prescribed duties or responsibilities and go in a cave or forest or any holy place and chant, or perform Deity worship, or any other service for Him. We have to remain in our household position and attend to our duties and responsibilities, and just add some service for Him. Like Deity worship, chanting, cooking food for Him and distributing to everyone, distribute His teachings (the Bhagavad-Gita), cleaning Temples and holy places,  etc…

Example of Performing Prescribed Duty 1

If one feeds millions of children but neglects to feed his own children, they will incur sin, because feeding ones own children is a responsibility which must be carried out. One is bound by his responsibilities and thus must attend to them. Feeding other children is certainly good but not a responsibility. To Lord Krishna, the cries of your own children who are neglected will be much loudly heard than the laughs of millions of other children who you feed. It is best to feed ones own children first and then feed other children.

Example of Performing Prescribed Duty 2

If one feeds millions of cows but neglects to feed his own cows, they will incur sin. Lord Krishna is more conscious of living beings that are suffering than living beings who are not suffering.

Example of Performing Prescribed Duty 3

In an organization, if the CEO spends all his time cleaning the toilets, this is certainly good, but by doing this he is neglecting his responsibilities as a CEO and the result will be that the company will be cleaned up, the company will go bankrupt and close down.

Example of Neglecting Devotional Service

In addition to performing our prescribed duties, we must also engage in some service unto God. so that at the end of this short life, we go back to the spiritual manifestation and not come back to this rotten material world, which is full of miseries like the Corona virus, what is logical is seen an enemy, and the truth is not acceptable.
