During the current Coronavirus Crisis in the world, many people are at home and some will get bored with nothing to do. So here are some suggestions.

  1. First accept that this crisis is due to collective karma of humans everywhere in the world. Make a vow to save some animals and trees, and plant new trees once you are able to. Nature is God’s energy and we must not destroy it, we must care for it. We must accept our mistakes and take steps to reduce our errors and develop our consciousness and make improvements for ourselves, others, and the planet.
  2. Chant mantras, this will help you to think of God. This is especially important if you are affected by the virus.

There are many mantras, here are 3 suggestions. Off course other mantras are also fine. Being open minded is very important, because God is open minded. Most mantras are good.

Mantra 1:

Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare
Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare

The Hare Krishna mantra says, “My dear Lord Krishna, my dear Lord Rama, O energy of the Lord, Hare, kindly engage me in your service.”(Srimad-Bhagavatam, 4.24.69 Purport)

Mantra 2:

Radhe Krishna, Radhe Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Radhe Radhe
Radhe Sham, Radhe Sham, Shama Shama, Radhe Radhe

Mantra 3 – Gayatri Mantra

Sanskrit:

Oṃ bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥ
tát savitúr váreṇyaṃ
bhárgo devásya dhīmahi
dhíyo yó naḥ pracodáyāt

English:

O Effulgent, Infinite, Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent being, bless me with Right Understanding and Clarity of Thinking.

3. Listen to the Bhagavad-Gita and Shrimad-Bhagavatam. This site has the Bhagavad-Gita in 8 languages, so start with this. You can also listen from other sites and other versions.

4. Read the scriptures like the Bhagavad-Gita and Shrimad-Bhagvatam. Other scriptures are also fine. Vedabase.com is one good site to read from.

5. Watch Bhagavad-Gita and Shrimad-Bhagavatam Katha from pure devotees from YouTube, https://prabhupadavani.org, mayapur.tv, and many other sites.

Pure devotee preachers are those who preach without any financial or personal gain motives.

Live a simple practical life with truthfulness and think of God at the same time. This is the message of the Bhagavad-Gita.
