Lord Ram appeared around twenty-one million years ago in the city of Ayodhya. This is completely mind boggling to those who only have knowledge from the scriptures originating from outside India. Based on their scriptures, the universe didn’t exist before 6,000 years ago.

Based on over whelming scientific evidence, the universe is billions of years old and human beings have existed for millions of years. The Vedic scriptures state that our current universe is 155.522 trillion years old, and 8.4 million species of living beings which includes 400,000 human species have existed since the beginning. There are cycles of creation and annihilation, each of 311.040 trillion years duration. This is not the first creation, zillions of creations have already come and gone. More on this can be read in the cosmology writings on this site.

Lord Ram was an incarnation of Lord Krishna, the Godhead. Many people say He was an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, this is not wrong, but not accurate. More on this can be read from the Vedic Creation chart on this site.

Lord Ram set a morality standard for all human beings to follow, He was the most perfect man who has appeared. Although Lord Krishna is the Godhead (the original form of God), Lord Krishna’s purpose was NOT to set a standard for us to follow from His life actions. Lord Ram’s purpose was to set a standard for us to follow from His own life actions. It is very important to understand these differences.
