The tragic PG building collapse in Delhi is another reminder of what can happen when greed becomes more important than human life.

Questions have been raised about unauthorized construction and whether additional floors and safety violations contributed to the tragedy. The authorities must investigate, and those responsible for any wrongdoing must face the law.

But there is also an important spiritual lesson.

Greed Leads to Suffering

The Bhagavad-Gita teaches us that uncontrolled greed and attachment to material possessions ultimately lead to suffering.

A person may accumulate properties, money and possessions, but everything material is temporary. What remains are the consequences of our actions.

This is the Law of Karma: for every action, there will be a reaction.

If someone knowingly risks the lives of others simply to make more money, no amount of financial gain can make that action right.

Human Life Is More Valuable Than Money

Students leave their families and move to cities hoping to build a better future. A rented room should provide them shelter and safety—not put their lives in danger.

Money earned honestly can be useful, but greed has no end. Bigger buildings, more rooms and larger bank balances mean nothing when innocent lives are put at risk.

Our prayers are with those who lost their lives and their grieving families.

Live honestly. Be satisfied. Never harm others for material gain. Money will eventually be left behind, but our Karma follows us.
