For a person to be called God, he must satisfy at least all the following conditions:
• He must be known eternally and not just recently. God must be eternal and thus He must also be known eternally.
• God has an eternal body. He must have appeared in the same body many times and not just once. This is proof that He is eternal. This is one of the differences between God’s creations and God. Man has a body that is temporary but God has a body that is eternal and thus He appears in the same body whenever He appears.
• God has created humans and other living beings, which are beautiful to some degree and some are more beautiful than others. Thus God must be the most beautiful person. Why would God create others beautiful and Himself ugly or average looking?
• God has made living beings powerful and some are more powerful than others. Thus God must be the most powerful person. One can only give something that one possesses.
• God has given opulence to humans and some are more opulent than others. Thus God must be the most opulent person.
• God has given riches to humans and some are richer than others. Thus God must be the richest person.
• God has given humans the ability to create things like airplanes. Thus God must have the ability to create small airplanes that run on water, air, and leaves like insects and vast airplanes that float in the sky, universes.
• God has made the sun which is all pervading, as the sun is everywhere in the universe. Thus God must also be all pervading (omnipresent). God is greater than His creations.
• God has made humans who are renounced to some degree, and some are more renounced than others. Thus God must be the most renounced person.
• God has made humans who are forgiving, compassionate, merciful, and tolerant, and some are more forgiving, compassionate, merciful, and tolerant than others. Thus God must be the most forgiving, compassionate, merciful, and tolerant person.
• God has given us memory power so we can remember things, thus God must have all memory.
Who Is God?
The person who satisfies all the above conditions is called God. So who is this greatest person?
Based on all the Christian scriptures, Jesus is the greatest person known to the Christians, but he does not satisfy any of the above conditions in full and thus he is not God. Jesus actually never claimed to be God and he clearly asked his followers to find God and love him. Unfortunately the so-called followers of Jesus completely ignore his teachings of living a sinless life, finding and serving God. Instead they live in sin and godless and expect Jesus to be eternally crucified to pay for their sins.
Jesus said “I go unto my father: for my father is greater than I” (John 14.28)
Here Jesus is clearly stating that his father, God, is greater than him and one only needs to know the qualities of God as described above to know that yes Jesus is not God. Jesus is giving all credit to God, a very nice teaching.
“I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself” (John 5.19)
No living being can do anything without the will of God. Jesus is being honest, and giving all credit to God, which is very good and we should learn from this nice teaching of Jesus.
Jesus said, “Father forgive them, they know not what they are doing”
Jesus is asking God to forgive his crucifiers, again a nice teaching of Jesus, forgiveness.
Based on all the Islamic scriptures. God is great, which is correct. But they have no idea how great God is, made God invisible/unknown and have a policy of don’t ask any questions and just accept or else. So there is no question of knowing God as a real person
based on the Islamic scriptures.
In the Koran, there is one verse, which admits that they do believe in the same God that others (non-Muslims) believe in.
“We believe in that which has been revealed unto us and revealed unto you; our God and your God is One, and unto Him we surrender.” (Koran 29:46)
Thus from the Christian scriptures, we learn that Jesus is one of the sons of God and from the Koran we learn that God is great but not how great, and we all worship that one great God.
What does the Bhagavad-Gita teach?
The Bhagavad-Gita answers the question that we all have. What and who is God.
1. God has all memory.
“Arjuna said: The sun-god Vivasvan is senior by birth to You. How am I to understand that in the beginning You instructed this science to him? “The Personality of Godhead said: Many, many births both you and I have passed. I can remember all of them, but you cannot, O subduer of the enemy!” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 4.5)
Vivasvan is referred to as the sun-god, as he is the controller of the sun planet working under the direction of the Godhead (the head of all controllers), Krishna.
“O Arjuna, as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, I know everything that has happened in the past, all that is happening in the present, and all things that are yet to come. I also know all living entities; but Me no one knows.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 7.26)
Lord Krishna is stating that he can remember everything but we cannot. This is one of the differences between God and living beings. God has a memory that is perfect and he can remember not just his own past appearances but also mine, yours and all living beings. Krishna knows exactly where and what all living beings, including you and me were doing trillions of years ago. This is how great Krishna (God) is.
2. God appears in His eternal same body many times.
“Although I am unborn and My transcendental body never deteriorates, and although I am the Lord of all living entities, I still appear in every millennium in My original transcendental form.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 4.6)
Krishna has a body that is eternal, full of bliss, and knowledge. Millennium in this verse means the time period of one Kalpa, which is 8.64 billion years. Thus Krishna appears in His original spiritual body once in every 8.64 billion years. He last appeared 5000 years ago on this planet and in the current cycle of creation of annihilation. The duration of each cycle is 311 trillion, 40 billion years and so far we have passed 155.522 trillion years and thus we still have 155.518 trillion years to go before this cycle ends (end of universe). Krishna has appeared more than 18,000 times (155.522 trillion divided by 8.64 billion) in His original spiritual body (the same body each time) on this planet in the current cycle so far and before this cycle there were trillions of cycles (each of 311 trillion, 40 billion years). Just think how great Krishna (God) and His creation is.
Do you know anyone else who has appeared more than 18,000 times in the same body? Do you know anyone who has appeared more than once in the same body? The simple answer is no.
Krishna appears in the same body each time but we cannot. This is one of the differences between God and living beings.
3. God is the source of everything.
“I am the source of all spiritual and material worlds. Everything emanates from Me. The wise who perfectly know this engage in My devotional service and worship Me with all their hearts.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 10.8)
“Furthermore, O Arjuna. I am the generating seed of all existences. There is no being — moving or nonmoving — that can exist without Me.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 10.39)
Krishna claims to be the origin of everything; no other person on the planet existing now or in the past claimed to be the origin of everything. This is because only Krishna is the origin of everything.
“Know that all opulent, beautiful and glorious creations spring from but a spark of My splendor. But what need is there, Arjuna, for all this detailed knowledge? With a single fragment of Myself I pervade and support this entire universe.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 10.41-42)
From a single spark of Krishna, millions of universes are created and maintained by Krishna. Can you imagine how great Krishna (God) is?
4. God is the most opulent person.
“O mighty conqueror of enemies, there is no end to My divine manifestations. What I have spoken to you is but a mere indication of My infinite opulences.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 10.40)
“The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: Yes, I will tell you of My splendorous manifestations, but only of those which are prominent, O Arjuna, for My opulence is limitless.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 10.19)
Krishna appears in his original spiritual body once in every 8.64 billion years on this planet, but He also appears in unlimited other forms on this planet, in this universe and on millions of planets in millions of other universes. Did you ever consider God being this great?
5. God is present everywhere.
“I am the Supersoul, O Arjuna, seated in the hearts of all living entities. I am the beginning, the middle and the end of all beings.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 10.20)
A person who is present everywhere must be greater than a person who is not present everywhere. Thus God must be present everywhere, as He is great. Krishna is present in the heart of all living beings as the supersoul,
He is present in every atom, He is also present on His own planet called Goluka Vridavan which is situated trillions of miles away in the spiritual creation called Vaikuntha (meaning a place with no anxiety). This is how great Krishna (God) is.
“The Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is greater than all, is attainable by unalloyed devotion. Although He is present in His abode, He is all-pervading, and everything is situated within Him.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 8.22)
God is all pervading meaning He is everywhere. The sun is situated in one place but the sunshine is everywhere in the universe. In a similar way, Krishna is always situated in one place on His abode, but He is also present everywhere within this universe and in millions of other universes. If the material sun, which is a creation of God, is all pervading, then why can’t the person who has created the sun also be all pervading?
“And yet everything that is created does not rest in Me. Behold My mystic opulence! Although I am the maintainer of all living entities and although I am everywhere, I am not a part of this cosmic manifestation, for My Self is the very source of creation.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 9.5)
If we can only say God is present everywhere if He is present in the atom, otherwise we cannot say God is present everywhere.
God is great means God has to be smaller than the smallest and bigger than the biggest. Krishna is the smallest as He is present within the smallest particle, atom. God is also the largest as Krishna in his Maha Vishnu form is so big that millions of universes are coming out of the pores on His body with every exhalation, and with every inhalation, millions universes go back into His body. Can you imagine how big, how small, and how great Krishna (God) is?
6. God is the most powerful person.
“The whole cosmic order is under Me. Under My will it is automatically manifested again and again, and under My will it is annihilated at the end.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 9.8)
Krishna maintains and keeps all the planets in the millions of universe in orbit and by His will there is creation and annihilation.
“The splendor of the sun, which dissipates the darkness of this whole world, comes from Me. And the splendor of the moon and the splendor of fire are also from Me.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 15.12)
According to the scientists, it would take over 400 billion nuclear weapons to produce the same amount of heat that the sun produces in one second, and the sun has been producing this heat for 15 over billion years according to the scientists and for 155.522 trillion years based on the Vedic scriptures. The heat of the sun in this universe and the suns in millions of other universe is being created by Krishna.
I read about the statements made by a British scientist called Stephan Hawkins, who stated that there is no God. Can he or any scientist create and set off 400 billion nuclear weapons every second for billions of years without any problems? Or even for one second? The sun has been doing this for at least 15 billion years with no problems.
7. God is the father of all living beings.
“It should be understood that all species of life, O son of Kunti, are made possible by birth in this material nature, and that I am the seed-giving father.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 14.4)
Krishna is the father of all living beings.
8. God’s Religion is Eternal.
“I am the father of this universe, the mother, the support and the grandsire. I am the object of knowledge, the purifier and the syllable om. I am also the Rg, the Sama, and the Yajur Vedas.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 9.17)
God re-establishes His religion called Sanatan Dharma, which means the Eternal Religion, at the beginning of each cycle. In the current cycle, the Eternal Religion (Sanatan Dharma) was re-established by Krishna in the form of Vishnu 155.522 trillion years ago. The Rg, Sama, and Yajur Vedas are the 3 main scriptures, which contain God’s teachings. The Bhagavad-Gita was also first spoken in this universe in the current cycle 155.522 trillion years ago by Krishna in His original form.
“O conqueror of wealth, there is no truth superior to Me. Everything rests upon Me, as pearls are strung on a thread.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 7.7)
Except for the Vedic scripture like the Bhagavad-Gita, all other scriptures are recently created, man made, one off scriptures, that’s why they are godless. The Bhagavad-Gita has been spoken by Krishna on this planet more than 18,000 times so far. It has also been spoken in millions of other universes. This is how great the Vedic scripture like the Bhagavad-Gita and Krishna are.
