There are many factors or reasons which puts people in ignorance or keeps people in ignorance. The two main reasons are:

1. Sinful activities. They took part in some sinful activities in the past or are presently doing them.

2. Hatred and Envy. They have hatred or are envious of others now or have been in the recent past.

We must give up the above and guard against getting involved in these. We can stop sinning and change from this moment on wards.

“Even if you are considered to be the most sinful of all sinners, when you are situated in the boat of transcendental knowledge you will be able to cross over the ocean of miseries.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 4.36)

“A person in full consciousness of Me, knowing Me to be the ultimate beneficiary of all sacrifices and austerities, the Supreme Lord of all planets and demigods, and the benefactor and well-wisher of all living entities, attains peace from the pangs of material miseries.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 5.29)
