In Sanatan-Dharma, the females are given the highest respects. The Vedic teaching is that the name of the wife must come before the name of the husband in announcements and invitations. Even the supreme person’s name, Lord Krishna, has to come after His eternal female consort’s name. For example, we say ‘Radha Krishna’ and never ‘Krishna Radha’. ‘Laxmi Narayan’, ‘Sita Ram’ and so on.
In some other religions, their scriptures clearly teach and their followers have a clear history of taking females captive and making them into sex slaves. This is considered most barbaric by Vedic standards.
The topmost devotees of Lord Krishna are all women, these are called Gopis. This is another proof of the high regard women have in Sanatan-Dharma.
There are some Vedic followers who treat women badly. Such people will never get away, they will be punished. Due to lack of preaching what is stated in the Vedic scriptures, people become corrupt and mistreat others. It is the responsibility of Temples to teach people what is taught by the Vedic scriptures, and guide the public in the right direction. Otherwise the public becomes misguided and corrupt. Merely going to Temples does not make one pious nor religious, one must follow the instructions in the Vedic scriptures. Which is to behave properly and thus be kind to everyone, especially to the females. This is the Vedic teaching.
“One who is not envious but who is a kind friend to all living entities, who does not think himself a proprietor, who is free from false ego and equal both in happiness and distress, who is always satisfied and engaged in devotional service with determination and whose mind and intelligence are in agreement with Me-he is very dear to Me.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 12-13-14)
The Four Principles for all Women to Follow
“To render service to the husband, to be always favorably disposed toward the husband, to be equally well disposed toward the husband’s relatives and friends, and to follow the vows of the husband — these are the four principles to be followed by women described as chaste.” (Srimad-Bhagavatam 7.11.25)
Personal and Household Duties for all Women
“A chaste woman must dress nicely and decorate herself with golden ornaments for the pleasure of her husband. Always wearing clean and attractive garments, she should sweep and clean the household with water and other liquids so that the entire house is always pure and clean. She should collect the household paraphernalia and keep the house always aromatic with incense and flowers and must be ready to execute the desires of her husband. Being modest and truthful, controlling her senses, and speaking in sweet words, a chaste woman should engage in the service of her husband with love, according to time and circumstances.” (Srimad-Bhagavatam 7.11.26-27)
All Women Must be Religious
“When irreligion is prominent in the family, O Kṛṣṇa, the women of the family become polluted, and from the degradation of womanhood, O descendant of Vṛṣṇi, comes unwanted progeny.” (Bhagavad-Gita 1.40)
When women become irreligious or they have no real interest in religion, they create children who become corrupted and develop evil and materialistic mentalities. The Vedic women who have no Vedic knowledge, will fall prey to those who follow evil ideologies like taking women captive and making them into sex slaves. When humans develop atheistic and evil mentalities, they fall down into the material pool of animal existence. The existence of animals is proof of this, the souls in animal bodies were once in human bodies.
A father who is not religious and/or does not teach his children the Vedic principles, must keep one eye on his daughters and the other on his property, otherwise the evil people will take them.
“A chaste woman should not be greedy, but satisfied in all circumstances. She must be very expert in handling household affairs and should be fully conversant with religious principles. She should speak pleasingly and truthfully and should be very careful and always clean and pure. Thus a chaste woman should engage with affection in the service of a husband who is not fallen.” (Srimad-Bhagavatam 7.11.28)
Women who Follow their Prescribed Duties will Go Back to the Spiritual Manifestation and live Eternally in Complete Bliss
“The woman who engages in the service of her husband, following strictly in the footsteps of the goddess of fortune, surely returns home, back to Godhead, with her devotee husband, and lives very happily in the Vaikuṇṭha planets. (Srimad-Bhagavatam 7.11.29)
Some religions actually teach that hell is full of women, this is the low regard they have for women. Sanatan-Dharma teaches that the women can become the topmost devotees of God, Lord Krishna. The Gopis are women and they are the topmost devotees of Lord Krishna. They live in complete bliss with God in the spiritual manifestation.
