What is a Vaishnava?

A Vaishnava is one who follows Lord Krishna..

A Vaishnava is a pure human being with the highest humane consciousness, the best human being as we shall see below.

A Vaishnava Follows The Eternal Religion Established by The Eternal God

We are the soul which is eternal and part of the eternal God and thus we should follow the eternal religion (Sanatan-Dharma) to go back to the kingdom of God called Vaikuntha where we will live in our spiritual body eternally with complete bliss.

“The living entities in this conditioned world are My eternal fragmental parts. Due to conditioned life, they are struggling very hard with the six senses, which include the mind.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 15.7)

Will I be Saved?

Yes off course you will be saved. This is a guarantee from a real person who has appeared more than 18,000 time in His original form as Lord Krishna and millions of times in other forms. You won’t find anyone like Lord Krishna. The so called God of other religions are unknown, invisible, and unproven. This is because God is One and He is only described in the scriputres He compiled, the Vedic scriptures. Lord Krishna is completely known, because He appears in Person to perform His transcendental past times with His loving devotees, He does not hide in a cave nor a mountain to deliver His message. Lord Krishna is the real God and He is omnipotent, He delivers His message Himself and not depend on angels or others.

“Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reactions. Do not fear.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 18.66)

“There is no truth superior to Me. Everything rests upon Me, as pearls are strung on a thread.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 7.7)

“He quickly becomes righteous and attains lasting peace.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 9.31)

“Though engaged in all kinds of activities, My pure devotee, under My protection, reaches the eternal and imperishable abode by My grace.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 18.56)

What are the Basic Beliefs of a Vaishnava?

* God is one, Lord Krishna, who has proven millions of times that He is the only God.

* God is eternal and thus eternally known. Only Lord Krishna is eternally known and this is because He is the only God. In the current cycle He has been known for 155.522 trillion years.

* God is eternal and thus His teachings must also be eternal. All knowledge comes from the eternal Vedic scriptures which have more than 800,000 verses and are the teachings of Lord Krishna in person and His pure devotees. One should only follow the instructions in the Vedic scriptures. The Bhagavad-Gita and Srimad Bhagvatam are the 2 main scriptures for a Vaishnava.

* God is eternal and thus His religion must also be eternal, the religion of God is called ‘Sanatan-Dharma’ which means ‘The Eternal Religion’.

* We are the soul and not this temporary body, the soul moves from one body to another, life after life, from one species to another, exactly based on our desires and deserves and thus one should only take pious actions in life.

* All living beings are the children of Lord Krishna, we are all brothers and sisters, including the plants and animals. Thus we should love all living beings and to prove this one must be a vegetarian. Killing is wrong (human or animal).

* Life is an intelligent design, nothing happens by chance. This is the law of Karma. One is held responsible for all his actions and thus one should live a responsible life.

* Truthfulness, compassion for all living beings, cleanliness, and humility are some very important qualities of a Vaishnava.

* No drugs, no alcohol, no meat, no gambling, no relationship outside marriage.

* Only follow the teachings/instructions of Gurus who satisfy the below conditions.

“The symptoms of a sadhu are that he is tolerant, merciful and friendly to all living entities. He has no enemies, he is peaceful, he abides by the scriptures, and all his characteristics are sublime.” (Srimad Bhagavatam 3.25)

“A sober person who can tolerate the urge to speak, the mind’s demands, the actions of anger and the urges of the tongue, belly and genitals is qualified to make disciples all over the world.”  (Nectar of Instruction 1)

The above means don’t listen to a word from anyone who is violent, rapist, lusty, intolerant, and animal killers.

* Chanting of Vedic mantras, deity worship, study of Vedic scriptures, and preaching all above to others are the main devotional activities for a Vaishnava.

What is the Benefit to the World from Vaishnavas?

If one can follow the above then he will become the best human being.

* All animals will be happy as they will not be killed. The price of milk, vegetables, fruits, and grains will collapse as cows and other animals will not be killed and there will be 10 times more vegetables/grains on the market for humans to eat, thus no more poverty and starvation in the World.

* All people will be happy as a Vaishnavas considers all living beings as his brothers/sisters.

* No druggies, no drunkards, no prostitutes, no terrorists, no liars, no deceptions, and so on.

* Acceptance of the law of Karma and reincarnation means the person will take responsible and pious actions. Lord Krishna is truly forgiving and merciful by giving us unlimited chances and not just one. A Vaishnava understands that people are born and situated differently due to their karma and thus has no hatred for anyone and does not curse anyone or damnation of anyone.

* A Vaishnava is a true believer of God and thus has no problems with God’s will. The variety of people exist due to the practice of free will which is given by God and thus there will be complete freedom of speech, thought, and religion.

* Acceptance of Lord Krishna as God means a mature, responsible, and loving God. He does not make childish statements and is not a bully/dictator and does not spend his time sending people to hellfire. He spends his time in loving exchanges with his devotees and taking care of animals. Lord Krishna is not just a name in a book, he is the real, seen, and proven God.

Only a devotee of Lord Krishna can begin to know and understand God (Lord Krishna) in full. For those who are not devotees of Lord Krishna, God is unknown and invisible. This is very much true and this can be proven by asking the non-devotees. They will never be able to describe God and they will simply say God is unknown and/or invisible. Don’t follow the godless, those who cannot describe God, the blind.

“That very ancient science of the relationship with the Supreme is today told by Me to you because you are My devotee as well as My friend and can therefore understand the transcendental mystery of this science.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 4.3)

What is the Result of Being a Vaishnava To You?

You are now on your way to becoming the best among human beings, and provided you strive for perfection as stated above and in the Vedic scriptures. This will be your last material birth. At death all your sins will be completely erased and you will go back to the spiritual creation called Vaikuntha, where you will live eternally in the same body which will be completely beautiful, completely blissful, and full of knowledge and there will be no trace of misery. In the spiritual creation, based on your devotional service and sincerity, you could take a role as a close friend of Lord Krishna and play with him every day, eternally. Or you could dance with him and listen to the best music from the best musician, Lord Krishna. There are millions of spiritual planets to choose from for your truly permanent residence in the same body with no old age, no death, no disease, and no anxiety.

” With your mind fixed on Me in this principle of renunciation, you will be liberated and come to Me.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 9.28)

“That supreme abode of Mine is not illumined by the sun or moon, nor by fire or electricity. Those who reach it never return to this material world.”  (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 15.6)

Only God Knows

Only God can answer our questions. This proves that only the Vedic scriptures can answer all our questions, because the Vedic knowledge comes from God.

1. Can you Describe God?

Christianity: Only God knows
Islam: Only God knows
Sanatan-Dharma: Yes the Christian and Muslims brothers are absolutely correct. Only God can describe Himself and He does so in the Vedic scriptures. God is One and thus He is only described once, in the scriptures compiled by Himself, the Vedic scriptures.

  • Lord Krishna is human like, He has a body that is eternal and we have a body that is temporary. He appears in His same original body each time He appears, but we cannot appear in the same body again. This is one of the differences God and His creations.
  • His complexion is dark-blue, like that of a rain filled cloud
  • His eyes are like lotus petals
  • He is ever youthful
  • He is full of bliss and his beauty excels that of thousand of cupids
  • He likes to play the flute
  • He wears a peacock feather in his crown
  • He wears the Kaustubha jewel around his neck
  • He wears yellow garments

The above and other detailed information on Lord Krishna (God) can be found in the Vedic scripture called Srimad Bhagavatam.

“His mouth expresses His happiness. His eyes spread like the petals of a lotus, and His garments, yellowish like the saffron of a kadamba flower, are bedecked with valuable jewels. His ornaments are all made of gold, set with jewels, and He wears a glowing head dress and earrings. His lotus feet are placed over the whorls of the lotuslike hearts of great mystics. On His chest is the Kaustubha jewel, engraved with a beautiful calf, and there are other jewels on His shoulders. His complete torso is garlanded with fresh flowers. He is well decorated with an ornamental wreath about His waist and rings studded with valuable jewels on His fingers. His leglets, His bangles, His oiled hair, curling with a bluish tint, and His beautiful smiling face are all very pleasing.” (Srimad Bhagavatam 2.2.9-11)

The above is the description of God, anyone who believes that God is all beautiful, opulent, and loving, would accept Lord Krishna as the Supreme person and immediately engage in His service.

“Fools deride Me when I descend in the human form. They do not know My transcendental nature as the Supreme Lord of all that be.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 9.11)

The foolish cannot know or understand God. For them God will be just a name in a book and completely unknown.

2. Can you Describe the People in the Kingdom of God?

Christianity: Only God knows
Islam: Only God knows
Sanatan-Dharma: Yes the Christian and Muslims brothers are absolutely correct. Only God can answer this question and He does so in the Vedic scriptures.

“The inhabitants of the Vaikuntha planets are described as having a glowing sky-bluish complexion. Their eyes resemble lotus flowers, their dress is of yellowish color, and their bodily features very attractive. They are just the age of growing youths, they all have four hands, they are all nicely decorated with pearl necklaces with ornamental medallions, and they all appear to be effulgent. Some of them are effulgent like coral and diamonds in complexion and have garlands on their heads, blooming like lotus flowers, and some wear earrings. The Vaikuntha planets are also surrounded by various airplanes, all glowing and brilliantly situated. These airplanes belong to the great mahätmäs or devotees of the Lord. The ladies are as beautiful as lightning because of their celestial complexions, and all these combined together appear just like the sky decorated with both clouds and lightning.” (Srimad Bhagavatam 2.9.11-13)

After knowing the above, anyone who is truthfull, would immediately surrender unto Lord Krishna.

3. When is the Day of Judgment?

Christianity: Only God knows
Islam: Only God knows
Sanatan-Dharma: Yes the Christian and Muslims brothers are absolutely correct. Only God can answer this question and He does so in the Bhagavad-Gita and other Vedic scriptures.

“As the embodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. A sober person is not bewildered by such a change.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 2.13)

For what reasons should the all efficient God, keep the dead waiting? The Day of Judgment is immediately at death. At death we are instantly judged based on the actions we have take in life and the soul is immediately transferred to another body exactly based on what it deserves.

4. How is God all Knowing?

Christianity: Only God knows
Islam: Only God knows
Sanatan-Dharma: Yes the Christian and Muslims brothers are absolutely correct. Only God can answer this question and He does so in the Bhagavad-Gita and other Vedic scriptures.

Lord Krishna (God) is present everywhere and this is how He is all knowing.

“I am the Super soul, seated in the hearts of all living entities..” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 10.20)

“I exist within everything, and I am therefore the essence of the atomic constituents of material elements.” (Lord Krishna, Srimad Bhagavatam 11.15.12)

Lord Krishna is present in the heart of all living beings as the super soul, and He is present in every atom.

“I am the goal, the sustainer, the master, the witness, the abode, the refuge, and the most dear friend. I am the creation and the annihilation, the basis of everything, the resting place and the eternal seed.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 9.18)

It is Lord Krishna who is the witness to all our actions and thus nothing can escape His knowing.

“O Arjuna, as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, I know everything that has happened in the past, all that is happening in the present, and all things that are yet to come. I also know all living entities; but Me no one knows.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 7.26)

It is Lord Krishna who is aware of everything that has happened in the past, all which is happening in the present, and all that will happen in the future.

5. How does God Maintain His Creation?

Christianity: Only God knows
Islam: Only God knows
Sanatan-Dharma: Yes the Christian and Muslims brothers are absolutely correct. Only God can answer this question and He does so in the Bhagavad-Gita and other Vedic scriptures.

“I enter into each planet, and by My energy they stay in orbit.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 15.13)

Lord Krishna is present everywhere and this is how He maintains everything, everywhere.

“By Me, in My unmanifested form, this entire universe is pervaded.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 9.4)

6. How does God Create?

Christianity:  Only God knows
Islam:         Only God knows
Sanatan-Dharma: Yes the Christian and Muslims brothers are absolutely correct. Only God can answer this question and He does so in the Bhagavad-Gita and other Vedic scriptures.

“These universes are understood to be floating in air as the Maha-Visnu exhales. They are like atomic particles that float in sunshine and pass through the holes of a screen. All these universes are thus created by the exhalation of Maha-Visnu, and when Maha-Visnu inhales, they return to His body. The unlimited opulences of Maha-Visnu are completely beyond material conception.” (Caitanya-caritamrta, Madhya-Lila 20.279-280)

Lord Krishna in His form as Maha-Visnu lies in the cosmos and when He exhales just once, millions of universes come out from His body pores and when He inhales, they all go back into His body. The lifespan of our universe is 311.040 trillion years and this is just one breath of time for Lord Krishna in His Maha-Visnu form. This is how great Lord Krishna (God) is.

There are many verses in the Vedic scriptures which explain in great details how Lord Krishna creates.

7. Exactly how old is the Universe?

Christianity: Only God knows
Islam: Only God knows
Sanatan-Dharma: Yes the Christian and Muslims brothers are absolutely correct. Only God can answer this question and He does so in the Bhagavad-Gita and other Vedic scriptures. Even the scientists cannot answer this question.

“O son of Kunti, at the end of the millennium all material manisfestations enter into My nature, and at the beginning of another millenium, by My potency, I create them again.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 9.7)

Millennium in this verse means 311.040 trillion years. There are cycles of creation and annihilation, each of 311.040 trillion years duration. This is fully explained in Bhagavad-Gita 8.17.

“The one humdred years of Brahma’s life are divided into two parts, the first half and the second half. The first half of the duration of Brahma’s life is already over, and the second half is now current.” (Srimad Bhagavatam 3.11.34)

In the current cycle, the universe has existed for 155.522 trillion years and this is the current age of the universe.

8. Exactly when is the end of the Universe?

Christianity: Only God knows
Islam: Only God knows
Sanatan-Dharma: Yes the Christian and Muslims brothers are absolutely correct. Only God can answer this question and He does so in the Bhagavad-Gita and other Vedic scriptures. Even the scientists cannot answer this question.

As explained above, the duration of each cycle of creation and annihilation is 311.040 trillion years and we have passed 155.522 trillion years in the current cycle, thus we have another 155.518 trillion years to go before the end of the universe and the current cycle.

9. How many Species of living beings are there?

Christianity: Only God knows
Islam: Only God knows
Sanatan-Dharma: Yes the Christian and Muslims brothers are absolutely correct. Only God can answer this question and He does so in the Bhagavad-Gita and other Vedic scriptures. Even the scientists cannot answer this question.

“In this universe there are limitless living entities in 8,400,000 species, and all are wandering within this universe.” (Caitanya-caritamrta, Madhya-Lila 19.138)

900,000 species of aquatic
2,000,000 species of plants
1,100,000 species of insects
1,000,000 species of birds
3,000,000 species of beasts
400,000 species of human beings

This information is mentioned in many places in the Bhagavad-Gita, Srimad Bhagavatam, Caitanya-caritamrta and other Vedic scriptures.

10. Does the Embryo Pray in the Womb?

Christianity: Only God knows
Islam: Only God knows
Sanatan-Dharma: Yes the Christian and Muslims brothers are absolutely correct. Only God can answer this question and He does so in the Vedic scriptures.

It’s due to contact with the material body that the soul forgets his original constitutional position of being eternal, full of bliss, full of knowledge, and part of the Supreme Lord, Lord Krishna. The knowledgeable soul prays while in the womb.

SB 3.31.12 – The human soul says: I take shelter of the lotus feet of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who appears in His various eternal forms and walks on the surface of the world. I take shelter of Him only, because He can give me relief from all fear and from Him I have received this condition of life, which is just befitting my impious activities.

SB 3.31.13 – I, the pure soul, appearing now bound by my activities, am lying in the womb of my mother by the arrangement of maya. I offer my respectful obeisances unto Him who is also here with me but who is unaffected and changeless. He is unlimited, but He is perceived in the repentant heart. To Him I offer my respectful obeisances.
