The Fate of Modern Man

The Fate of Modern Man

We are 5000 years into Kali Yuga, we still have another 427,000 years to go before Lord Krishna appears on a white horse as Lord Kalki to end this age.

The following statements are from the Srimad Bhagavatam canto 12, which was written more than 5000 years ago. These are the predictions for the current age of Kali Yuga. Having read the predictions you will see that the Vedic scriptures are infallible. Every prediction is becoming a reality. The recent Tsumani, and Katrina natural disasters, and global terrorism is just the beginning of a long period of pain and suffering for the sinful man. As predicted, mankind is engaged in sinful activities like meat eating, intoxications, illicit sex, gambling, and irreligiosity. The result is that man will suffer more and more. Only those who are fortunate enough to realize this will stop engaging in sinful activities and thus be saved. For them the cycle of birth, old age, disease and death will end after this life. The others will take countless births to face the wrath of nature and evil man.

The Symptoms of Kali Yuga

Religion, truthfulness, cleanliness, tolerance, mercy, duration of life, physical strength and memory will all diminish day by day.

The Qualities of Men and Women in Kali Yuga

In the Kali age people tend to be greedy, ill behaved and merciless, and they fight one another without good reason. Unfortunate and obsessed with material desires, the people of Kali-yuga are almost all barbarians.

  • The women will freely wander from one man to the next.
  • Women will become much smaller in size, and they will eat too much, have more children than they can properly take care of, and lose all shyness. They will always speak harshly and will exhibit qualities of thievery, deceit and unrestrained audacity.
  • Men and women will live together merely because of superficial attraction, and success in business will depend on deceit. Womanliness and manliness will be judged according to one’s expertise in sex.
  • Servants will abandon a master who has lost his wealth, even if that master is a saintly person of exemplary character. Masters will abandon an incapacitated servant, even if that servant has been in the family for generations.
  • Family ties will extend no further than the immediate bonds of marriage.
  • In Kali-yuga men will be wretched and controlled by women. They will reject their fathers, brothers, other relatives and friends and will instead associate with the sisters and brothers of their wives. Thus their conception of friendship will be based exclusively on sexual ties.
  • In Kali-yuga men will develop hatred for each other even over a few coins. Giving up all friendly relations, they will be ready to lose their own lives and kill even their own relatives.
  • Men will no longer protect their elderly parents or their children. Thoroughly degraded, they will care only to satisfy their own bellies and genitals.
  • The occupations of men will be stealing, lying and violence.
  • People will be tormented by quarrels, hunger, thirst, disease and severe anxiety.
  • The maximum duration of life for human beings in Kali-yuga will become fifty years.
  • The humans will gradually come to appear like ghostly, haunted creatures.
The Future Food of Humans
Harassed by famine and excessive taxes, people will resort to eating leaves, roots, flesh, wild honey, fruits, flowers and seeds.

The Environment in Kali Yuga

The citizens will suffer greatly from cold, wind, heat, rain and snow. By the time the age of Kali ends, the bodies of all creatures will be greatly reduced in size. Most plants and herbs will be tiny, and all trees will appear like dwarf trees. Clouds will be full of lightning. Struck by drought, they will become completely ruined.

Modern Day Mentality

Shows how foolish the modern day mentality among people is.

Modern Day Mentality – Ignorance and Foolishness

  • We have bigger houses, but no room for our parents – Most parents live separately.
  • We have high tech gadgets, but we have low grade mentality – No consideration for others.
  • We talk more but do less – We just say things but don’t act on it.
  • We have high tech communication systems, but still can’t get through to others – People have become too complex to get through.
  • We have become more materialistic, and less spiritualistic – We are very much interested in the temporary lump of matter (the body) and no interest in knowing about the eternal soul.
  • We build though houses, but live in broken homes – Single parent families due to break up of marriage.
  • We are quick to start a relationship, but also quick to end it – Divorce is very common.
  • We have more conveniences, but still less time – People don’t have time to eat, they eat while driving, most people live on frozen and unfresh foods.
  • We have more degrees, but less common sense – Material education does not develop our common sense. We are wasting time by accumulating material degrees and objects which are completely useless at the time of death.
  • We have more knowledge, but less judgment – We do not know what is wrong and what is right. Drinking alcohol, drugs, eating flesh, relationships outside marriage, and gambling are all wrong, but we think these are good, because we have lost our good judgement skills.
  • We are more expert at solving problems, but we create more problems – Our  lives today are far more complex and than ever before.
  • We have more medicine, but less health – Millions dying from cancer, AIDS, heart disease.
  • We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life – What is the purpose of living? To know and serve God.
  • We’ve added years to life, but not life to years – What is the value in living longer if we waste our life?.
  • We conquered outer space, but not inner space – Who we are, why are we here, who is God?.
  • We’ve learned to rush, but not to wait – A friendship of 20 years or more can be ended with one argument/disagreement.
  • We live on fast foods, but have slow digestion – Food from restaurants could be unhealthy and contaminated with the karma of the atheist or sinful cooks.
  • We have big men, but small character – People are bigger, but with no moral values.
  • We have taller buildings, but shorter tempers – We argue over small things.
  • We have wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints – We base everything on our own tiny brain. We are not open minded.
  • We spend more, but have less – We have many things but still we feel empty, no satisfaction.

Donate Your Money or Waste It

Donate Your Money or Waste it

The fact of life is that money comes in one hand and soon after it leaves from the other. Money does not stay with us for long. So you have a choice of either wasting it on material possessions or spend it wisely in the service of Lord Krishna.

It is important to realize that everything, including your money, belongs to Lord Krishna. You are just a caretaker for a very short time. You can either spend it in the service of Lord Krishna by donating to His temples or devotees who are engaged in His service or spend it on yourself and waste it and incur sin on yourself.

“One who performs his duty without attachment, surrendering the results unto the supreme God, is not affected by sinful action, as the lotus leaf is untouched by water.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 5.10)

Here Lord Krishna recommends that one should work for Him. This means that we should offer the results (pay checks) of our sacrifice (job) to Him (some of it at least). If we just enjoy the fruits (pay checks) of our sacrifice (job) results by ourselves, we are living in sin.

When should you donate?

Well, whenever you receive the fruits (pay check) of your sacrifices (job), you should offer the results (money) to Lord Krishna.

Are you going to take your Material Possessions with you?

At death you will leave behind everything you own, the money in the bank, the nice cars, the big houses, the gold jewelry and so on, and you will get another body according to your work. Every tiny bit of service to Lord Krishna will count towards determining your next body (human or animal) and its conditions of life (rich, poor, healthy, diseased etc.). If you have spent your life in serving Lord Krishna, then at the end you will go back to Him. If you have not served Him, then you will have to go through all the pains of life again, again, again, and again until in one of your future incarnations you finally realize that life is meant only for serving Lord Krishna and not for self-gratification. A materialist life is a wasted life. You then engage in the service of Lord Krishna and at death you are liberated from material existence.

“The steadily devoted soul attains unadulterated peace because he offers the result of all activities to me; whereas a person who is not in union with the divine, who is greedy for the fruits of his labor, becomes entangled.” (Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 5.12)

Donating money gives one the opportunity to become free from material attachments and thus material life. Those who do not donate simply waste the money on material possessions and become attached to a materialist life and become bonded to material life for many lifetimes.

It is not that you should give up everything in the service of Lord Krishna and live in a hut. One can live in a Taj Mahal and drive a Mercedes, and not live in sin. Provided the same was given to Lord Krishna too, via donations of equal value to His temples or devotees engaged in His service.

A foolish person works hard all his life, accumulating a big bank balance, properties, jewelry, fast cars, and other material possessions. Then he quits his body to take another, leaving behind everything. Because he spent the money on himself and did not offer the results of his work (money) to God, he lived in sin and his next body will be that of a beggar.

Leave your money to the Children?

Leave your children moral values with Vedic sanskar teachings and not material possessions. Money will only bewilder your children more and spoil them. They will be completely captivated by maya, the illusion that money is everything and thus your children will waste this rare human in a materialistic life and at death will again come back to suffer, life after life. Set your children free by giving them spiritual knowledge and Vedic sanskars (moral values). The topmost spiritual knowledge is contained in the Bhagavad-Gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam. This will enable them to become free from material life at the end of this life and send them back to the spiritual kingdom called Vaikuntha, where everyone lives in the same body eternally in complete bliss. It’s impossible to live eternally in the same body on planet Earth and even more impossible to live in complete bliss, even for a short time.

Conclusion

An intelligent person will spend some of his hard earned money on himself and give a portion of it in charity. Thus when he quits his body, he will be able to enjoy his wealth in his next body too, if he desires to stay in the material manifestation. He will be born in a rich family.

Do you ever wonder why some are born in rich families and some in poor families? Well now you know why.
